Me llamo José Luis Martínez Arce, aunque me conocen más como Jota. Siempre he sido una persona muy curiosa a la que le fascinaban las historias, y cuando llegó mi adolescencia empecé a interesarme por el mundo del cine, lo que me llevaría a estudiar Comunicación Audiovisual.
Durante mi etapa universitaria sentaría las bases de mi aprendizaje, pero sobre todo, descubriría la fotografía y el gran potencial que esconde este lenguaje.
A medida que iba conociendo más sobre ella, más me enamoraba. Y cuando tuve mi primera cámara, me lancé a las calles de mi ciudad (Madrid) para poner en práctica todos esos conocimientos que iba acumulando.
My name is José Luis Martínez Arce, although my nickname is Jota. I have always been a very curious person who was fascinated by stories, and when I was a teenager, I became interested in the world of cinema, which led me to study audiovisual communication.
During my studies at the university, I would lay the foundations of my learning, but above all, I would discover photography and the great potential that this language hides.
The more I learned, the more I felt in love with it. And when I got my first camera, I took to the streets of my city (Madrid) to put into practice all the knowledge I was incredible feeling
Siempre tuve claro que no quería limitarme a un estilo concreto, ya que sinceramente, me resultaba algo imposible por mi forma de ser. Quería descubrir y descubrirme a través de este lenguaje así como explorar las distintas ramas que estaban a mi alcance.
Veo a la fotografía como un reto incesante, como una galaxia de posibilidades donde poder desarrollar mi creatividad. Como si cada vez que cogiera la cámara algo se despertara dentro de mí y no me dejara desprenderme de ella hasta conseguir lo deseado.
Y es por ello que me involucro al máximo en cada proyecto para conseguir los mejores resultados, poniendo en práctica toda mi experiencia y conocimientos.
Probablemente esto último tenga que ver con mi auto exigencia y gusto por hacer bien las cosas. Una máxima que siempre tengo presente en cualquier trabajo.
I was focus that I didn’t want to limit myself to a specific style, because honestly It was impossible for myself. I wanted to discover myself through this language as well as explore the different branches that were within my reach.
I see photography as a constant challenge, as a galaxy of possibilities where I can develop my creativity. When I pick up the camera something wakes up inside me and does not let me let go of it until I get the goal.
Probably the latter has to do with my self-demanding and taste for doing things well. A maxim that I always keep in mind when I do any work.
